Quartonic Harmony for Guitar presents a geometrically intuitive approach to thinking harmonically on guitar. Quartonic Harmony treats harmony always with respect to a chord tone basis. Doing so simplifies harmonic understanding by allowing players to ignore key centre and the role that conventional cadence demands in a classic tonal orientation. Following this logic opens a profoundly new way of approaching melody, composition, and improvisation, and allows for new insights previously unavailable in older ways of looking at harmony. The method is primarily diagrammatic; however, comprehensive explanations are given that provide a fully exhaustive treatment of the ideas presented. The reader is led chapter-by-chapter toward a sense of true harmonic freedom—a freedom which is normally elusive. No deep prior musical knowledge is required—only preliminary familiarity with the fretboard and an interest in learning these ideas.
